Hmmm... I love scary movies too, and I also prefer the ones that mess with your mind as opposed to gore.

In no particular order...

I have to say I love "Rosemary's Baby" and Psycho as well. To that I would add:

"The Excorist" - I have no idea what did it for me, but it was the only movie I can remember that creaped me out big time. I dreamt about spinning heads for several nights afterwards! And I must have been about 20 or so when it came out so it wasn't like I was a young kid or something.

Now I can't remember the name of the movie, but the very first Dracula movie was a silent one. I saw it a number of years ago, and I was taken at what a wonderfully shot movie it was for that time. And how the eeiriness and terror of Dracula came across without there being any dialogue.

And although it didn't scare me, how could you not put "Silence of the Lambs" up there. This is the first thriller to ever win an Oscar as best picture. Jodie and Anthony - what a great movie.
