If this were an Islamic slasher film released during Ramadan, it would stir so much outrage that the Satanic Verses threats would seem like an Aprill Fool's joke. And rightly so.
Yeah, it's just a movie and will probably get dissed by critics and the public. But really, why even remake this. Even though Santa is not a religious symbol, I still think this movie realease is ridiculous. But, as has been said, if you don't want to see it, then don't.

I just wish all this religious controversy would go away. Happy Holidays vs Merry Christmas, the perceived slight that other religious groups feel because Christmas is so culturally pervasive in this country. It has to stop. This is a Christian country, be it Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, etc. It just is. Of course Christmas is a big deal. We should be able to say it without feeling guilty for perhaps offending Jews, Muslims and even Atheists. I think that this society as a whole, has to do more to embrace the Holy seasons of Muslims and Jews. There is much beauty in both and I respect them highly. We all know about Hannukkah and Ramadan (at least in theory) but they need to be better understood.

I'd bet that Jesus and Mohammed are watching all this and wondering what is up with these mortals.
