Age: Do I have to admit!!! :cry 51

Orientation: Lesbian

Do I want more lesbian programming? I do want to see more lesbian programming but as others have mentioned, not if it is just for some sort of publicity, sensational s/l, only to be dropped as soon as sweeps is over. And I hate that so much of our movies in the past have been lesbian is perverted, lesbian is a druggie, lesbian commits suicide, one of lesbian couple ends up with a man, etc... One of my favorite movies of late was Imagine Me and You - two women fall in love, overcome some roadblocks, and we are left with a happyily ever after ending. And this comes from a woman who normally is not a big romance movie fan. Drama, comedy are always nice. Mysteries - the guys have Chad Allen doing those mysteries. Can't we have someone?

Would I watch Logo or Here! TV if they had specifically lesbian drama? I have Logo and rarely watch it. There is very little there for women, and any movies they show, or Queer as Folk are heavily edited. I do watch the videos and the shorts mostly. I used to have Here! and liked it. I've moved and I'm supposed to be able to get it 'on demand', but it isn't always available. My cable company won't answer my emails. :hmm

Do I have those channels on my cable now? See above.

Do you watch The L Word? Sheepishly admits I do.

What is it I like and don't like? I agree with much of what Desbronte said. I love the beautiful women - mainly Helena, Bette, Dylan and Marina. Purely shallow and I admit it! But overall, the show doesn't represent any lesbians I know. The beauty, the power, the money, etc... not in my circle of friends. And I resent Irene saying she will write the stories she wants to tell and the h*ll with what the viewers like.

What kind of lesbian programming do I want to see? My first answer. But ummmm..... add science fiction.

Does imagery and representation matter to you? Yes! As others have said, no matter how much the media may say they shouldn't be responsible for our image, what they do on the screen does matter. And as has also been said, this is how some folks find out about us because they simply don't know a gay person in their entire family and circle of friends. :rolleyes
